CUPERTINO, Calif. - July 20, 2020Rancher Labs, creators of the most widely used Kubernetes management platform, announced today that CRN®, a brand of The Channel Company, has recognized Rancher Labs in its 2020 Emerging Vendors list, in the Data Center category. This annual list honors new, rising technology suppliers that exhibit great promise in shaping the future success of the channel with their dedication to innovation. The list recognizes channel-focused organizations across eight categories: Cloud, Data Center, Security, Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), Storage and Networking/Unified Communications.

Rancher Labs’ Kubernetes orchestration platform has grown in popularity over the last few years to become the world’s most widely adopted management solution and is used by IT operations teams and developers alike. The company more than doubled its commercial revenue and enterprise customer base in 2019. This significant year-on-year growth demonstrates an accelerating demand for containers within the enterprise and containerized workloads running on Kubernetes.

Rancher is different than other Kubernetes management solutions. One hundred percent open source and technology agnostic, Rancher is used to modernize legacy infrastructure, develop and manage applications faster and more safely and dramatically hasten innovation. Rancher allows companies to containerize their existing systems so they’re easier to move to the cloud. It also eases the development of modern, cloud-native applications that are easier to manage and maintain. Crucially, Rancher allows teams to manage multiple clusters, side-by-side, in any environment – in multiple clouds, on bare metal, in the data center and at the edge.

According to Gartner, 75 percent of enterprise data will be created and processed outside of data centers and cloud deployments by 2025. Whether companies are looking to deliver terabytes of content to millions of mobile users via 5G; run a network of low-powered, remote wind farm installations; deliver software updates to retail kiosks across thousands of branch locations; or manage a fleet of high security cameras with facial or object recognition, the edge is driving a massive proliferation of Kubernetes deployments.

K3s is Rancher’s lightweight Kubernetes distribution designed for low-power edge environments. Since it became generally available in late 2019, it has been adopted by companies in many sectors that want the benefits of Kubernetes in IoT devices (such as security cameras and industrial robots), base stations, wind farms and a host of other scenarios.

Sheng Liang, CEO and co-founder, Rancher Labs said: “We’re delighted to be recognized by CRN in its 2020 Emerging Vendors list. Kubernetes is the new Linux – you run it everywhere. Companies in all sectors are sold on the value of Kubernetes to modernize and transform their technology architecture. Next, with K3s and Fleet, we’ll bring that value to the network edge – to devices, base stations, branch offices even on Raspberry Pi.”
