Illumina Innovates with Rancher and Kubernetes
Since its founding in 2015, the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) has become one of the most important movers and shakers in the open source ecosystem—especially when it comes to tools that affect containers and other “cloud-native” technologies. CNCF was established to promote and organize projects related to large-scale industry trends towards containerization, orchestration, and microservices architectures. In the time since, 10 open source projects have been added to the foundation.
Earlier this year, I received an email invitation from Dan Kohn, Executive Director of Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), about a meeting at KubeCon Berlin to explore a Kubernetes conformance program. That effort culminated in today’s official launch of the Kubernetes Software Conformance Certification program. Rancher is among the first group of vendors and community members participating in this effort. Users of the Rancher Kubernetes distribution now have the peace of mind of running on a certified Kubernetes platform.
